What is Grow My Garden?
Grow My Garden is an online gardening marketplace and forum. Its aim is to help people connect with other gardeners and exchange plants and gardening information.
What does my membership give me access to?
Your membership lets you list plants to sell, swap or give away and enables you to see all the details of plants that other Grow My Garden members have listed. You’ll be able to contact them to find out more or acquire their plant. If you want to learn about gardening and exchange information with other members, you can use the Knowledge Pot to read/comment on members’ posts and post your own.
What if I forget my password?
Don’t panic – there is a button for that! Just hit the Forgot? button on the login page and we’ll send you a link to reset your password.
Why do I have to provide my address?
We believe in connecting people with people. To help our members connect with plants and people close to where they are, we need to know the area you live in!
Are my contact details shown on my plant listings?
Only your username and location will be shown on your plant listings. You have control over who you share your details with as you complete any exchange or sale.
How do I buy or acquire plants on Grow My Garden?
When you find a plant listed on Grow My Garden that you want – or you’d like to know more about – click the enquire button on the listing. This will let you send an email to the member who has listed it. You’ll then communicate with them directly to arrange any payment and delivery/pick-up.
Are there any fees for buying and selling plants?
No, there are no fees for listing or acquiring plants on the Grow My Garden website. If you buy a plant, you’ll pay the person listing the plant directly (outside of the Grow My garden website). Grow My Garden provides a marketplace for people to connect and takes no fee for this service.
What can I sell on Grow My Garden?
You can only sell plants. Other gardening related items e.g. plant pots, can’t be listed at the moment. If you’d like to be able to list other gardening related items please let us know, and we’ll consider adding this to our future developments list. Remember that you can’t sell any plants that are illegal, a noxious pest/weed/biosecurity hazard, are on the Ministry of Primary Industries (MPI) Biosecurity New Zealand National Pest Plant Accord list or breach the Plant Variety Rights Act 1987.

How do I list a plant on Grow My Garden?
Easy – click on List a Plant and follow the screen’s prompts. You’ll get a chance to preview the listing before it is published and you can go also back and make edits. Remember to include as much information as you can so that people can find your plant easily.
Can I sell more than one plant at a time?
You sure can! There is no limit on the number of plants that you can list at any time.
Can I include any links in my listing?
No, links to external websites or the inclusion of other promotional/marketing material are not permitted in listings.
What if I can’t find the right category to list my plant in?
We’ve tried to provide a good selection of plant categories but if you can’t find the right one, choose the category that best fits your plant. Do let us know if you think there is another category we should be adding to the list and we’ll consider it.
What photos and photo formats should I use for my listing?
We work with a number of photo file formats so you can upload photo files that are in JPEG or PNG formats. It is best to use close-ups of flowers but we recommend also trying to get photos of the whole plant to show how it grows and what its foliage looks like.
Can I edit or delete my listing?
Yes, you can. Go to your Dashboard and My Listings and click on the edit button for the plant listing you want to edit. If you need to remove a plant listing (hopefully because you’ve sold it) you’ll see that one of the editing options is to remove the listing.
What happens when I sell a plant?
Grow My Garden members who are interested in your plant will contact you via your plant listing on the website. You will then communicate with them directly to agree on a price and delivery/pick-up.
How can I bookmark plants that I like the look of?
How do I pay for plants?

What do I do if my plant doesn’t arrive?
